Muralen is a fictional municipality in the northern region of Nordmark. Located along the River Vela, it covers about 52 square kilometers and has a population of roughly 12,000. The town is known for an extensive public mural program and a cultural economy that combines art studios, craft markets, and tourism.

Historically, Muralen grew as a river crossing and trading hub in the Middle Ages. It developed a distinctive tradition of wall painting and decorative arts, which intensified during a late-20th-century urban renewal program that integrated new commissions with the preservation of historic cores.

Geography includes river valleys, gentle hills, and a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. The town features the Old Town, the Riverside Park, and a protected nature area called the Muralen Reserve, which preserves several mural-related habitats and birdlife.

Culture centers on mural art; the Muralen Gallery houses rotating exhibitions and a permanent collection of murals by regional artists. The annual Muralen Festival of Wall Arts attracts visitors and participants from across Nordmark.

Economy centers on arts, design studios, and hospitality. The municipal government supports public art programs and small-scale manufacturing. Transportation includes a regional rail stop and a local bus network; the nearest airport is in a neighboring town.
