Motifspecific is an attributive term used to describe biological interactions, activities, or recognition processes that depend on the presence or configuration of a particular motif. A motif can be a short, recurring DNA or RNA sequence, a specific amino acid pattern in proteins, or a defined structural feature within a molecule. When a system is described as motifspecific, its function is guided or constrained by that motif, with binding affinity, catalytic activity, or regulatory outcome varying according to motif compatibility.

In molecular biology, motifspecific interactions are common in gene regulation, enzyme specificity, and RNA processing.
