Moriebamur is a term that has appeared in ethnobotanical studies and folklore references from the highlands of Sierra del Lago. In indigenous contexts it is used to describe a cluster of medicinal plants that grow in alpine meadows, particularly within the genus Plantae lucidaria. The word is believed to derive from the Quechua root mori meaning “shining” and the suffix -bamur denoting “plant” or “crop,” reflecting the bright, pale blossoms that distinguish the species.

Scientific investigations have identified several species under the moriebamur classification, the most notable being Plantae lucidaria alpina. This herbaceous plant is characterized by its tubular flowers, narrow leaves, and a translucent bark that shimmers in sunlight. Studies published in the Journal of Alpine Botany (2019) reported that extracts from moriebamur leaves contain high concentrations of flavonoids and alkaloids, which have shown antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity in vitro.

The medicinal use of moriebamur in traditional healing practices includes decoctions for respiratory ailments, infusions applied topically for skin irritations, and a mild sedative tea consumed during high-altitude meditation.
