Molute is a hypothetical unit used in theoretical chemistry and science fiction to describe discrete quanta of chemical energy within a molecular system. It is not an established, experimentally measured quantity and is not recognized as a standard SI unit. In its intended uses, a molute serves as an abstract counting unit akin to a mole, but applied to energy quanta rather than to entities.

In conceptual models, a molute represents a defined amount of energy localized in a molecular framework, such as a fixed number of vibrational quanta, electronic excitations, or other quantized energy carriers bound to a specific molecule or cluster.
