Mezinárodní právo, often referred to as mezinárodní právo in Czech, is the body of rules, principles, and norms that govern the relations between states and other international actors. It is distinct from domestic law, which applies within a single country. International law is primarily concerned with issues such as diplomacy, human rights, international trade, environmental protection, and the conduct of warfare.

The sources of international law are varied and include treaties, customary international law (practices consistently followed by states with the belief that they are legally obligated to do so), general principles of law recognized by civilized nations, and judicial decisions and scholarly writings, which serve as subsidiary means for the determination of rules of law.

Enforcement of international law can be complex. Unlike domestic legal systems, there is no single global authority with compulsory jurisdiction over all states. However, enforcement mechanisms include diplomatic pressure, sanctions, international courts and tribunals (such as the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court), and the actions of international organizations like the United Nations. While international law may not always be perfectly adhered to, it plays a crucial role in maintaining international peace and security, fostering cooperation, and establishing a framework for global governance.
