Meriretkillä is a Finnish term for sea excursions, trips by boat on coastal or open-sea waters. A meriretki can be a few hours’ paddle or sail, or a multi-day voyage camping on islands or shores. The activity is recreational, educational, and cultural, and is common in the Finnish archipelago and along the Baltic coast. Vessels range from sailboats and motorboats to kayaks; participants may be crews or passengers, often in groups of friends, families, schools, or outdoor clubs.
