Membranoi, a term not commonly found in English language scientific literature, refers to a rare and poorly understood type of paroxysmal hemoglobinuria. This condition is characterized by episodes of acute hemolysis, often accompanied by rising hemoglobin levels and free hemoglobin in the urine. The exact cause of membranoi remains unclear, but it is thought to be related to a defect in the membrane of red blood cells.

Membranoi is a distinct condition from other paroxysmal hemoglobinurias, which typically have a known cause such as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
