Medianalalla is a robust statistical estimator used to summarize a univariate data distribution by a single central value. It aims to combine the simplicity of the median with a mechanism that reduces sensitivity to extreme values and local skew.

Definition and construction: The standard approach partitions the data into a fixed number of blocks of equal size. In each block, the median is computed; the final Medianalalla estimate is the median of these block medians. An optional variant uses overlapping blocks (sliding windows) to produce a smoother estimate and to reduce sensitivity to block boundaries.

Properties: Medianalalla inherits robustness from the median and adds a reduction in the influence of outliers by aggregating medians from multiple blocks. Under mild conditions, it exhibits a high breakdown point and tends to perform better than the sample mean on heavy-tailed or contaminated data. Its efficiency relative to the mean depends on the underlying distribution and the chosen block configuration.
