Matsalsbord is the Swedish word for a dining table, a piece of furniture used for eating meals, typically placed in a dining room or kitchen. It serves as a central gathering point for family and guests and may also be used for work, games, or crafts.

In traditional Swedish homes, matsalsbord are often made of wood, with oak and pine being common, finished to highlight grain. Modern versions include veneer, metal frames, glass tops, and extendable mechanisms to increase capacity.

Rectangular tables are most common, but round, square, and oval forms are also found. Extendable tables with leaves allow additional seating. Typical seating capacity depends on length: about 160-180 cm seats six, 200-240 cm seats eight; small tables for four seats use about 120-140 cm; round tables of 90-120 cm diameter seat four to six.

Care and maintenance: wipe with a damp cloth; avoid soaking; wood finishes require occasional oiling or waxing; use placemats to protect surfaces; maintain proper humidity to prevent warping.
