Masterpaginas, commonly called master pages, are templates used to define a consistent layout and shared content across multiple pages in a document or a website. By separating the common frame from page-specific content, they help maintain uniform typography, navigation, headers, footers, margins, and other design elements throughout a project.

In web development and content systems, a master page provides a fixed layout that includes regions or placeholders. Content pages inherit this frame and populate the placeholders with page-specific information. The approach enables a site-wide change to be made in a single place, while still allowing certain areas to be overridden or customized on individual pages.

In publishing and design software, master pages (as in Adobe InDesign) define repeating elements such as page numbers, logos, background graphics, and column guides. They establish the baseline for a sequence of pages, while designers can override items on specific pages when necessary.

Common benefits include visual consistency, faster production, and simpler updates. When the master page is modified, the changes propagate to all linked pages, reducing the risk of inconsistent layouts. Care is needed to manage overrides to avoid layout conflicts or orphaned elements.

Although the term master page is most associated with desktop publishing and certain web frameworks, many platforms use equivalent concepts under different names, such as templates, layouts, or themes. The core idea remains a reusable frame that governs the overall structure of a group of pages.
