Machineslevers are mechanisms that integrate lever action with other machine elements to control, amplify, or transmit force and motion. In engineering usage, a machineslever refers to a mechanism in which a lever provides the primary input to a broader machine, such as a lever-operated ram in a press or a lever-driven linkage that actuates a slider or rotating shaft.

The operation relies on the lever principle: a force applied at a distance from a fulcrum produces a magnified output, with the ratio of input and output forces determined by the lever arm lengths. When embedded in a machine, the lever may serve as the input handle, positioning element, or converter that translates rotational or linear input into the desired output through associated linkages.

Configurations range from simple single-lever devices to compound or multi-lever assemblies. Common embodiments include direct lever-to-crank linkages, lever-assisted sliders, and staged lever chains that share a common fulcrum. Design must manage clearance, friction, and wear while delivering the required precision and speed.

Design considerations include selecting suitable lever arms to achieve the desired mechanical advantage, choosing materials with adequate fatigue resistance, and controlling backlash in the linkage. In many cases, a machineslever trades some travel distance for increased output force or control accuracy.

Applications appear in manufacturing presses, hand tools, lifting and positioning devices, and automated equipment where manual or motorized input must be translated into controlled force and motion. They are also used in safety lockouts and instrumentation that require precise actuation with minimal input effort.

Historically, the lever is one of the six classical simple machines described by Archimedes, and modern machineslevers extend that principle by integrating levers with hydraulics, pneumatics, or electric actuators to form more complex systems.
