lusabilità

Lusabilità is a term occasionally found in Italian discussions of product design and human–computer interaction, but it is not a standardized term in the field. In most Italian technical literature, the standard term is usabilità. When lusabilità is used, it is typically intended as a variant spelling or shorthand for usability, referring to the ease with which a product or service can be used to achieve goals.

Definition and scope: If treated as equivalent to usability, lusabilità covers effectiveness (the extent to which users achieve their goals accurately), efficiency (the resources required to achieve those goals), and user satisfaction in a given context of use. It often overlaps with related concepts such as learnability, memorability, accessibility, and overall user experience.

Measurement and evaluation: Usability is commonly assessed through user testing, task success rates, time on task, error rates, and qualitative feedback. Standard instruments include questionnaires such as the System Usability Scale (SUS). Standards such as ISO 9241-11 define usability in terms of the effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction with which specified users achieve specified goals.

Notes on use: Given its lack of standard status, it is generally advisable to use usabilità in Italian texts to avoid confusion. When lusabilità appears, readers should interpret it in most cases as a reference to usability.
