Sus is a slang abbreviation for suspicious or suspect, widely used in online communication, gaming, and memes. The term functions as an adjective or interjection to mark doubt about another person’s actions or statements. It gained prominence in internet culture in the late 2010s and became especially popular through the online multiplayer game Among Us, released in 2018, where players label others as "sus" when they believe someone is the impostor. From there, the word spread across social media, streaming platforms, and meme formats, often shortened further to "sus" in captions and dialogue. The usage is informal and context-dependent, with variants such as "super sus" or "too sus" found in casual speech.

In other contexts, Sus also denotes a biological genus in the family Suidae, which includes domestic pigs and their wild relatives, such as Sus scrofa. This taxonomic use is unrelated to the slang meaning but shares the same spelling.
