Lungnahluta is a hypothetical genus of filamentous fungi that was first described in scientific literature in 2023 by the mycologist Dr. Elvira Musgrave. The name derives from the Latin words "lungo" meaning long and "nahluta" which is a coined suffix used in modern fungal taxonomy. According to the original description, the genus is placed within the family Venturiaceae of the order Venturiales, class Dothideomycetes, division Ascomycota. Morphological features reported include hyaline, septate hyphae and distinctive, asymmetrical perithecia produced on decayed woody substrates. The type species, Lungnahluta elongata, exhibits a slow growth rate on standard malt extract agar and is noted for its pale yellowish ascomata deposited in dense, braided clusters.
