The name is drawn from roots in the constructed Lukuyan language, intended to evoke seafaring identity and maritime heritage.

Geography and environment: The city sits in a natural harbor ringed by mangrove forests and a surrounding coral reef system. Streets weave along waterways and elevated walkways, with a canal network connecting neighborhoods and the main port. The climate is tropical, with a pronounced wet season and strong maritime winds that influence daily life and industry.

History: Lukujanan traces its origins to merchant guilds that settled in the harbor during the medieval era. It grew as a regional trading hub, fostering crafts, shipbuilding, and knowledge exchange. In the early modern period, it joined a loose regional maritime confederation that coordinated defense, trade rules, and shared infrastructure. Modernization introduced electricity, public schools, and sustainable port practices while preserving historic districts.

Governance and society: The city operates as a parliamentary republic with a council of twenty representatives elected for four-year terms.
