Logikmoduler are modular electronic blocks that implement digital logic functions. The modular concept allows building complex circuits by interconnecting standardized units that perform simple logic operations such as AND, OR, NOT, or more advanced elements such as flip-flops, multiplexers and decoders. Typically housed in a metal chassis or card cage, each module has a defined interface for power, input and output signals, and a bus for inter-module communication. The modules are designed to be stacked or mounted in a rack, enabling rapid prototyping or industrial logic control without the need for a single monolithic device.

Historically, logic modules were popular in education and early digital equipment, where engineers plugged individual ICs into a cabinet. Later, dedicated logic-module families in PLCs and industrial controllers provided more integrated, plug-and-play logic functions. Current use remains limited but still relevant in some contexts: educational labs and hobbyist kits, modular control systems, and legacy industrial installations where a hardware-logic approach offers determinism and low latency.

Common examples include basic gates, latches and flip-flops, decoders, encoders, counters, and simple multiplexers. Some function modules implement fixed logic with a defined interface, while others may offer programmable logic blocks within a modular PLC architecture.
