linnalähedased

Linnalähedased is an urban neighbourhood located within the proximity of the city centre of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The settlement falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Kesklinn district and is part of the wider Tallinn metropolitan area. Geographically, Linnalähedased is situated approximately 3 kilometres from the central business district, bounded by the Kadriorg Park to the north, the Tallinn Old Town to the south, and the Nõmme district to the west. The neighbourhood is intersected by several key transport routes, including the Ring Road and the Kadlikuja Street, which provide connectivity to the rest of the city.

The neighbourhood was established in the early 20th century as a residential area designed to accommodate workers from the growing industry of the city. During the Soviet era, the area underwent significant redevelopment, with the construction of apartment blocks characterised by the functionalist style typical of that period. Following Estonia's regained independence in 1991, Linnalähedased experienced a gradual shift towards mixed housing, combining older Soviet-style blocks with newer residential developments and commercial spaces.

As of the latest census in 2022, the population of Linnalähedased stands at approximately 4,500 residents, with a demographic composition reflecting a mix of families, young professionals, and retirees.
