Linjeingångar, often referred to as line-level inputs, are a standard type of audio connector found on many audio devices, including amplifiers, mixers, and audio interfaces. They are designed to accept audio signals that have already been processed and amplified by a source device, such as a CD player, music streamer, or synthesizer. The signal level at a line input is significantly higher than that of a microphone input, typically in the range of -10 dBV to +4 dBu. This higher level allows for cleaner signal transmission over longer cable runs and reduces the likelihood of interference.

When connecting an audio source to a linjeingång, it's important that the source device's output is also set to line level. Connecting a source with a lower output level, like a turntable without a pre-amplifier, to a linjeingång will result in a very weak and noisy signal. Conversely, connecting a source with an output level significantly higher than line level might overload the input, causing distortion. Most modern audio devices automatically handle a range of input levels, but it's generally best practice to match the output level of the source to the expected input level of the destination device for optimal sound quality.
