Liikuttamaa is a Finnish term used to describe a concept related to aversion therapy, a type of psychological treatment that involves exposing patients to unpleasant stimuli in an attempt to alter undesirable behaviors. The word itself is a Finnish compound, derived from the words "liikuttaa," meaning to move or stir, and the suffix "-maa," which forms an adjectival noun referring to a land or sphere.

In the context of aversion therapy, Liikuttamaa was originally developed as a treatment method for individuals experiencing sexual addiction or compulsive behaviors. The idea behind Liikuttamaa therapy is to subject the patient to increasingly upsetting situations, within a controlled environment, in order to make them associate the stimulus with the undesired behavior and thus eventually lose their attachment to it.

This form of treatment gained some attention in Finland in the early 1980s but largely fell out of favor as more modern approaches to addiction and behavioral therapy began to emerge. Many of the principal criticisms of Liikuttamaa stem from the paternalistic and restrictive nature of the therapy regime, which faced concerns over the rights and autonomy of the patients.

Some late exams of Liikuttamaa deemed it effective for cases of addictive behaviors, although many critics now view it as outmoded, data-starved, and ethically questionable. Liikuttamaa would typically involve driving a patient to a park or visit a red-light district with intent to demotivate him or her to visit such sites by associating them with an effacing, nauseating, and sickening experience presented by hearing some varied coercive mnemonics.
