Lightform is a term used in several disciplines to describe the form, pattern, or representation of light in space. It does not denote a single physical object, but rather a concept that appears in physics, visual arts, and media technologies.

In optics, the form of light refers to the spatial and temporal structure of a light field, including its wavefront, amplitude, phase, and polarization. Propagation shapes such as plane waves, Gaussian beams, and more complex interference patterns give light its form and determine how it forms images, focuses, or diffracts.

In the visual arts and architecture, lightform describes deliberate shaping of light to create perceived shapes, atmospheres, or narratives. Artists and designers work with luminance, color temperature, and directional lighting to render three-dimensional form or to reveal textures.
