Core activities include final testing and commissioning, deployment and cutover planning, data migration, and the preparation of as-built documentation and user manuals. Training for users and administrators, creation of maintenance contracts, and final quality assurance checks are typically completed during this phase, supported by release notes and acceptance tests.

Key outputs are the delivered product or system, formal acceptance certificates, signed handover documents, operational documentation, training materials, and service-level agreements. A formal handover to operations marks the transition from project execution to ongoing operation and support.

Responsibilities are shared among the supplier, the project team, and the client's organization. Governance methods such as acceptance testing, readiness reviews, and risk assessments help verify compliance with requirements and contractual terms before closure.

Common risks include incomplete implementation, data integrity issues, insufficient training, and inadequate operational readiness. If readiness criteria are not met, the project can face delays in handover and the start of operations.
