Ledbåndslæsioner, often referred to as ligament injuries, occur when ligaments are stretched or torn. Ligaments are tough, fibrous bands of tissue that connect bones to other bones, providing stability to joints. These injuries commonly happen during activities that involve sudden twists, impacts, or falls.

The severity of a ledbåndslæsion can range from a mild stretch (sprain grade I) to a complete tear (sprain grade III). Symptoms typically include pain, swelling, bruising, and a feeling of instability in the affected joint. The location of the injury will dictate the specific symptoms and functional limitations.
