landslagið
Landslagið (the landscape) is the Icelandic term for the overall physical form of a region’s surface, including its landforms, geology, vegetation, and human use. In Icelandic usage, landslagið refers to the integrated system of natural processes and cultural practices that shape a place over time. The concept encompasses both the tangible topography—glaciers, volcanoes, lava fields, rivers, coastlines, and hills—and the living components such as soils and ecosystems, as well as how people interact with and alter the land.
In Iceland, landslagið is characterized by dramatic dynamism: volcanic activity, glacial movements, erosion, and geothermal areas
The landscape influences settlement, economy and culture. It underpins tourism, renewable energy potential (geothermal and hydro),
