Landlevel, or land leveling, is the process of altering the surface of a land area to achieve a specified elevation and slope. The goal is a uniform grade that facilitates drainage, irrigation, construction, or aesthetic design. The term is used in agriculture, civil engineering, and landscaping, and is sometimes written as land leveling or landleveling.

In agriculture, land leveling creates uniform field height to ensure even irrigation and reduce waterlogging or runoff. In construction, it produces a stable, flat surface for foundations, roads, and site development. In landscape design, it helps with water management and lawn or garden grading.

The process involves surveying the site, choosing target elevations and slope, marking reference points, performing mass grading (cutting high spots and filling low spots), and finishing with smooth grade. Drainage is planned to prevent standing water. Typical steps include rough grade, compacted stage, and finish grade.

Equipment commonly used includes bulldozers, motor graders, scrapers, and compactors; surveying tools such as laser levels, total stations, and GPS-based grade-control systems. For smaller or more precise jobs, manual leveling with a transit and stakes may be employed.

Challenges in land leveling include soil type and subsoil hardness, moisture content, rock presence, and weather conditions. Errors can affect drainage, erosion control, and long-term performance.
