Landbris, commonly referred to in English as the land breeze or shore breeze, is a local wind along coastlines that blows from the land to the sea during the night and early morning. It is the nocturnal counterpart to the daytime sea breeze.

The mechanism of landbris involves differential cooling of land and sea after sunset. The land cools more quickly, increasing surface pressure over the land while the sea remains relatively warmer with lower pressure. This pressure gradient drives air from the land toward the sea at the surface, creating an offshore wind. Coastal topography, such as hills or escarpments, can influence the strength and direction of the flow and help channel the breeze along a coastline.

Characteristics of landbris include typically weaker winds than the daytime sea breeze and a tendency to occur after sunset and persist through the night, sometimes weakening near dawn. It can affect nearshore conditions, influencing marine navigation, harbor operations, and small-scale weather patterns along the coast. In some regions, landbris interacts with other local circulations and larger-scale weather systems, contributing to nocturnal wind variability.

Geographically, landbris occurs in many coastal regions worldwide where there is a meaningful land-sea temperature contrast and relatively unobstructed shorelines. Its intensity and duration depend on season, local topography, water temperatures, and regional climate patterns. Though generally modest, landbris is a notable factor in coastal meteorology and is observed as part of the diurnal cycle of coastal winds.
