Lämpömuovautuvat, also known as thermoplastics, are a class of polymers that become pliable or moldable when heated and solidify upon cooling. This process can be repeated multiple times without significant degradation of the material's properties, making them highly recyclable and versatile. The molecular structure of thermoplastics consists of long, linear or branched polymer chains that are held together by weak intermolecular forces, such as van der Waals forces. When heat is applied, these forces weaken, allowing the polymer chains to slide past each other, enabling the material to flow and be shaped. Upon cooling, the intermolecular forces re-establish, locking the chains into their new configuration and causing the material to harden.
