Construction typically includes a conductor (usually copper or aluminum), insulation, and a protective outer jacket. Many cables also feature shielding, armor, or fillers to improve mechanical protection, weather resistance, or fire performance. Conductors may be solid or stranded, and cables can be single-core or multi-core.
