Kustlinjens is the genitive form of kustlinje in Swedish, used to refer to the coastline or to something belonging to the coastline. In geography and cartography, kustlinjen denotes the boundary between land and sea, a boundary that is inherently dynamic rather than a fixed line. The coastline includes features such as beaches, cliffs, dunes, lagoons, estuaries, and deltas, and it supports diverse ecosystems and human activities along shores and harbors.

Coastlines are shaped by both short-term processes such as waves, tides, and storms, and long-term forces including sediment supply, coastal erosion, tectonic uplift or subsidence, and global sea-level changes. As a result, their position and form can shift over days to millennia.
