Krízisek is a term used in Czech and Slovak to denote multiple crises. It is the plural of krize or krízis and is used to describe episodes of instability, disruption, or turning points that affect social, economic, political, or environmental systems.

Crises vary by origin and nature. They can be acute or protracted, localized or systemic, and may arise from market shocks, governance failures, social tensions, health emergencies, natural disasters, or technological disruptions.

The study and handling of crises involve a lifecycle: warning or early signals, onset and escalation, peak impact, response and stabilization, and recovery and normalization. Effective crisis management emphasizes rapid assessment, decisive leadership, clear communication, and coordinated action.

Resilience and learning from past events are central goals, with investments in preparedness, redundancies, and adaptable institutions.

Examples at the global level include financial crises such as 2007–2008, public health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and natural or environmental crises driven by floods, droughts, heat waves, or wildfires. Political crises and humanitarian crises also commonly feature in contemporary discourse.

Scholars across social science, economics, public administration, and disaster studies analyze crises to improve prediction, prevention, and response. The concept underscores the need for resilience, evidence-based policy, and international cooperation.
