Krambihaigused, also known as epilepsy, is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent, unprovoked seizures. Seizures are sudden surges of abnormal electrical activity in the brain that can cause temporary changes in behavior, movements, feelings, and consciousness. The specific symptoms of a seizure depend on which part of the brain is affected.

There are many different types of seizures, broadly categorized as focal (starting in one area of the brain) and generalized (affecting both sides of the brain simultaneously). Focal seizures can be further classified as aware or impaired awareness. Generalized seizures include absence seizures, tonic-clonic seizures, and others.

For individuals whose seizures are not controlled by medication, other options include epilepsy surgery, vagus nerve stimulation, or dietary therapies like the ketogenic diet. While krambihaigused cannot always be cured, it can often be managed effectively with appropriate medical care.
