koyuyorlar

Koyuyorlar is a Turkish verb form. It is the third-person plural present continuous (also called the present progressive) of the verb koymak, meaning “to put,” “to place,” or “to set.” In this form, the action is happening in the present, and the subject is typically understood as onlar (they) even though the subject pronoun is often omitted in Turkish.

Morphology and usage. The verb is built from the stem koy- with the present continuous suffix -uyor- and the third-person plural ending -lar: koy-iyor-lar → koyuyorlar. Turkish also allows other subject markings, but koyuyorlar generally implies “they are putting” or “they put” in a ongoing or habitual sense. Koymak is transitive, so a direct object (what is being put) and, frequently, a location or destination can follow: e.g., kitapları rafa koyuyorlar (they are putting the books on the shelf). The phrase can also be used figuratively, such as in kuralları koyuyorlar (they are setting/establishing rules).

- Valize biraz giysi koyuyorlar. They are putting some clothes into the suitcase.

Notes. Koymak has a broad range of senses beyond physical placement, including to establish, impose, or assign something (e.g., görev koymak, to assign a task). The form koyuyorlar is common in everyday Turkish and is understood in most Turkish-speaking regions, with no major dialectal variation affecting its core meaning.
