Kosketusherkkien is a Finnish term used to refer to touch-sensitive sensors or devices. The word combines kosketus ('touch') and herkkä ('sensitive'), and kosketusherkkien is the plural genitive form used to speak about multiple touch-sensitive devices or about the category itself.

In electronics and human–machine interfaces, touch sensors detect contact or proximity without requiring physical buttons. The two main families are capacitive and resistive sensors. Capacitive kosketusherkki systems measure changes in an electrical field caused by a finger near or touching a sensor; they enable multi-touch input, are durable, and support thin, glass-fronted designs. Resistive kosketusherkki rely on pressure to bridge two conductive layers, work with any pointed or blunt object, and tend to be cheaper but less durable in high-use or high-wear contexts.

Other sensing approaches include optical, infrared, and surface-acoustic-wave methods, as well as force-sensing resistor arrays and capacitive touch-on-glass implementations. Integration often occurs under display glass or within device housings, sometimes with haptic feedback to simulate tactile response. Design considerations include sensitivity, noise immunity, environmental robustness, power consumption, and manufacturing cost.

In Finnish technical literature, kosketusherkkien is used as a general label for this category of input devices, alongside English terms such as touch sensors or touchscreen technology. The concept continues to evolve with advances in flexible substrates, under-glass sensors, and new materials that improve durability and sensitivity.
