korpral
Korpral is a term used in the Polish military to refer to a non-commissioned officer (NCO) rank. The term is derived from the German word "Korporal," which itself comes from the Latin "corporalis," meaning "of the body." In the Polish military, korpral is equivalent to the rank of corporal in many other armies. This rank is typically held by soldiers who have completed their basic training and have demonstrated leadership potential. Korprals are responsible for supervising and training junior soldiers, as well as performing various administrative and logistical tasks. They play a crucial role in maintaining discipline and order within the unit. The rank of korpral is below that of starszy korpral (senior corporal) and above that of starszy szeregowy (senior private). The insignia for korpral consists of a single chevron on the sleeve, with the number of chevrons increasing with higher ranks. The term "korpral" is also used in other countries with a history of German influence, such as Austria and Germany, where it is known as "Korporal" and "Korporal," respectively.
