A konteineritõstuk, also known as a container handler or straddle carrier, is a heavy-duty vehicle used for moving and stacking intermodal containers. These machines are essential in ports, container terminals, and large logistics hubs where containers are transferred between ships, trains, and trucks.

Konteineritõstukud are designed to lift and transport containers of various sizes, including standard twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) and forty-foot containers. They operate by driving over a container, lowering a spreader or a frame to engage with the container's corner castings, and then lifting it. Once lifted, the konteineritõstuk can transport the container to a designated stacking area or directly to a waiting vehicle.

There are several types of konteineritõstukud. Straddle carriers are common and can lift containers high enough to stack them two or three high. They are known for their speed and mobility within the terminal. Reach stackers are another type, offering greater outreach and the ability to stack containers higher, often up to five or six containers. They are particularly useful for areas with limited space. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and automated stacking cranes (ASCs) represent more advanced, automated solutions for container handling, reducing the need for human operators.

The operation of a konteineritõstuk requires skilled operators due to the size and weight of the loads. Safety features are paramount, including robust braking systems, advanced visibility aids, and load-sensing mechanisms. These vehicles significantly contribute to the efficiency of global trade by facilitating the rapid and safe movement of goods.
