konseptuttak

Konseptuttak, or concept draft, is a term used in Norwegian project development to describe an early, non-binding proposal that presents the core idea of a project. It is intended to explore and communicate how a given problem might be solved and what value it would deliver.

A konceptuttak typically includes a concise problem statement, a defined target audience, a proposed value proposition, key features or components, and the expected scope. Visuals such as sketches, mood boards, user journeys, or storyboards are often used to convey the concept, along with rough budgets or timelines.

Usage and purpose: to align stakeholders, test assumptions, and secure approval or funding for further development. It is produced in early phases of product design, marketing campaigns, architecture, urban planning, or public-sector procurements. It is intentionally high level and non-binding, leaving room for iteration.

Process and evaluation: the konseptuttak is developed by designers or project teams and then reviewed against criteria such as feasibility, desirability, viability, and strategic fit. Feedback leads to refinement or a formal concept decision, sometimes resulting in a more detailed konseptutkast or konseptvalg.
