Konjunktivala is a grammatical term used primarily in Scandinavian linguistic descriptions to refer to forms or constructions associated with the subjunctive mood. As an adjective it appears in expressions such as konjunktivala satser (“subjunctive clauses”) and is applied to verbs, clauses or markers that express non-factual meanings like possibility, wish, hypothesis, necessity or irreality.

The subjunctive is morphologically and syntactically variable across languages. In Swedish the subjunctive survives in a limited set of forms and fixed expressions (for example, Om jag vore rik — “If I were rich”), whereas other languages maintain more distinct subjunctive paradigms (e.g., German Konjunktiv I and II, Romance-language subjuntivo/ subjuntivo). Where overt subjunctive morphology has weakened, periphrastic constructions with modal verbs or special particles often perform similar functions.
