Konfuzianisch refers to the teachings and philosophy attributed to Confucius, a Chinese philosopher who lived from 551 to 479 BCE. His ideas profoundly shaped Chinese culture, politics, and social structure for centuries, and his influence extends to other East Asian countries like Korea, Japan, and Vietnam.

At its core, Konfuzianisch emphasizes personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice, and sincerity. It is not a religion in the Western sense, as it does not typically involve deities or a focus on the afterlife, but rather a system of ethics and social philosophy aimed at creating a harmonious society. Key concepts include ren (benevolence, humanity), li (propriety, ritual, etiquette), and xiao (filial piety, respect for elders and ancestors).

Konfuzianisch promotes the idea of the junzi, often translated as a "gentleman" or "superior person," who cultivates virtue through self-reflection and education. Social order is maintained through clearly defined roles and responsibilities within relationships, such as ruler-subject, father-son, husband-wife, elder brother-younger brother, and friend-friend. The state is seen as an extension of the family, and rulers are expected to govern by moral example rather than by force.

While Konfuzianisch was suppressed during certain periods in Chinese history, particularly during the Cultural Revolution, its core tenets have continued to influence societal values and ethical considerations in East Asia. Modern interpretations often seek to adapt its principles to contemporary contexts.
