Kolmikuituliittymä, often translated as a three-fiber connection or tri-fiber optic access, refers to a telecommunications infrastructure where three distinct optical fibers are brought to a customer's premises. This configuration is typically employed in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) or fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks.

The primary purpose of a three-fiber approach is to logically or physically separate different services, ensuring dedicated bandwidth and performance for each. One fiber is commonly used for residential broadband internet services, providing high-speed data connectivity. A second fiber is often designated for television services, enabling the delivery of high-definition and potentially interactive television content. The third fiber is frequently reserved for voice services, such as traditional telephone lines or Voice over IP (VoIP), ensuring reliable communication.

This separation offers several advantages. It allows for enhanced quality of service (QoS) for each application, preventing one service from negatively impacting the performance of another.
