Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party), commonly referred to as Kokoomus, is a centre-right political party in Finland. It is one of the country’s largest and most influential parties, often participating in government coalitions. The party has its roots in early 20th-century conservative and liberal movements and has persisted as a major force in Finnish politics.

The party’s platform emphasizes a market-based economy, private enterprise, fiscal responsibility, and pragmatism in welfare policy. It supports European integration, a strong role for the private sector, and Finland’s membership in the European Union; in recent decades it has generally promoted liberal economic policies and reform of public services. In security policy, the party has been supportive of NATO membership and international cooperation.

History and role: Kokoomus has led or participated in several government administrations and has served as an alternative to social-democratic governance. Its leaders have included Jyrki Katainen (2004–2014), Alexander Stubb (2014–2015), and Petteri Orpo (leader since 2017).

Organization: The party is organized nationally through a parliamentary group, a central executive board, and a party congress. The youth wing is Kokoomuksen Nuoret.

International ties: Kokoomus is a member of the European People’s Party and maintains ties with center-right parties across Europe and the Nordic region.
