Koagulopathiák, also known as coagulation disorders, are a group of medical conditions characterized by an abnormality in the blood's ability to clot. This impairment can lead to excessive bleeding or, in some cases, an increased risk of forming blood clots. The coagulation cascade, a complex series of biochemical reactions involving various proteins called clotting factors, is responsible for stopping bleeding by forming a clot. When one or more of these factors are deficient or dysfunctional, the clotting process is compromised.

These disorders can be inherited or acquired. Inherited coagulopathies include conditions like hemophilia, which is a deficiency in clotting factors VIII or IX, and von Willebrand disease, the most common inherited bleeding disorder, affecting the von Willebrand factor. Acquired coagulopathies can arise from various factors, such as liver disease, vitamin K deficiency, certain medications like anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin, heparin), disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), or other serious illnesses.

Symptoms of koagulopathiák vary depending on the severity and specific disorder. They can include easy bruising, prolonged bleeding from cuts, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, heavy menstrual periods in women, and blood in urine or stool. In severe cases, spontaneous bleeding into joints or organs can occur, leading to pain and potential long-term damage. Diagnosis typically involves a thorough medical history, physical examination, and specific blood tests to measure clotting times and levels of individual clotting factors. Treatment aims to manage bleeding episodes and prevent complications, often involving replacement therapy with clotting factor concentrates or other medications to support hemostasis.
