Non-antibiotic alternatives are gaining prominence. Probiotics introduce beneficial microorganisms to the gut, aiming to improve digestion and immune function. Enzymes are added to animal feed to break down complex carbohydrates, proteins, and other compounds, making them more digestible and absorbable. Other additives may include organic acids, prebiotics, and plant extracts, all aimed at enhancing animal health and performance without the risks associated with AGPs and hormones.
