Process and timing

Kantglättning is performed after initial leveling and smoothing of the surface, while the material is still plastic but firm enough to support finishing tools. A narrow trowel, edger or margin trowel is guided along edges, corners and around openings to compress the edge, fill minor gaps and remove irregularities. The edge finishing is typically done in coordination with the main surface finishing to ensure consistent texture and level.
