Kamidan, also known as kami-dan or kamidana, is a small altar or shrine found in Japanese homes, dedicated to the worship of kami, which are deities or spirits in Shinto. Common offerings include rice, sake, salt, and water. A mirror, often considered a sacred object that reflects the presence of a kami, may also be present. Some kamidan may house amulets purchased from Shinto shrines, known as ofuda, or small statues representing specific kami.

The practice of maintaining a kamidan involves regular cleaning and the presentation of fresh offerings. Family members may offer prayers and express gratitude at the kamidan. The specific kami honored can vary, but often include those associated with protection, prosperity, or the household itself.
