A kalansilmäobjektiivi, or fisheye lens, is an ultra-wide-angle lens that produces a strong, deliberate, spherical distortion creating a wide panoramic or hemispherical image. The term "fisheye" comes from the perceived view of a fish looking out from underwater. These lenses are designed to achieve an extremely wide field of view, often up to 180 degrees or even more. This wide perspective is achieved by intentionally distorting straight lines, causing them to appear curved, particularly near the edges of the frame.
