Kaiutinantureita, often translated as speaker transducers, are devices that convert electrical signals into sound waves or vice versa. In the context of audio, they are the fundamental components within loudspeakers and microphones responsible for this energy transformation.

Within a loudspeaker, a speaker transducer typically comprises a diaphragm, a voice coil, and a magnet. When an electrical audio signal is applied to the voice coil, it creates a magnetic field that interacts with the stationary magnetic field of the permanent magnet. This interaction causes the voice coil, and thus the attached diaphragm, to move back and forth. The motion of the diaphragm displaces air, generating sound waves that we perceive as audio.

Conversely, a microphone transducer works in reverse. Sound waves cause a diaphragm to vibrate, which in turn moves a coil within a magnetic field or alters capacitance, generating a small electrical signal that corresponds to the original sound.

Different types of speaker transducers exist, each with its own design and application. Cone speakers, dome tweeters, and planar magnetic speakers are common examples, differentiated by the shape and material of their diaphragms and their driving mechanisms. The performance of a speaker transducer, including its frequency response, sensitivity, and distortion, is critical to the overall sound quality of an audio system.
