Külavaheteed, often translated as "village paths" or "inter-village roads," are historical and often unpaved routes connecting rural settlements in Estonia and other Baltic regions. These paths served as vital arteries for local communities, facilitating trade, communication, and social interaction before the advent of modern road networks. Külavaheteed were typically established by common usage over centuries, evolving organically to follow the most practical routes between villages, often connecting farms, churches, and marketplaces.

The construction and maintenance of külavaheteed were generally a communal responsibility. Villagers would contribute labor and materials to keep the paths passable, especially after harsh winters or heavy rains. The condition of these paths could vary significantly depending on the terrain and the resources available to the local community. In some areas, they were little more than dirt tracks, while in others, they might have been reinforced with stones or gravel to improve their durability.

With the development of more sophisticated transportation systems and the expansion of paved road networks in the 20th century, the importance of külavaheteed diminished. Many have since been absorbed into modern infrastructure, while others have fallen into disuse or have been reclaimed by nature. However, some külavaheteed are still preserved and used today, particularly in more remote rural areas, and they hold cultural and historical significance as remnants of Estonia's rural past.
