The primary purpose of System Restore is to help users recover from system malfunctions or performance issues that may arise due to software conflicts, driver problems, or corrupted system files. When a user initiates a system restore, the operating system replaces current system files with those from a selected restore point. This process does not affect personal files, documents, emails, or other user-created data.

To use System Restore, a user typically accesses it through the System Properties or by searching for "Create a restore point" in the Windows search bar. From there, they can choose a desired restore point from a list, which is usually dated and may include a description of the event that created it. The computer then restarts and applies the changes.

It's important to note that System Restore is not a backup solution for personal data. While it can fix system issues, it cannot recover deleted files or protect against hardware failure.
