juhimiseks

Juhimiseks is a conceptual architectural term that refers to a principle of urban planning and design. It roughly translates to "square for wolves" or "square for wild animals" in Estonian. The term was coined to describe the idea of creating an open, public space that also functions as a community center or gathering place for local inhabitants, excluding people from urban centers while still inviting wildlife to inhabit and interact with the space.

Juhimiseks is based on the observation that wildlife in contemporary urban areas often shuns even the largest and most preserved natural spaces, as they have become acquainted with the immediate surrounding environment. The term suggests creating an isolated area outside of the urban center that takes into account consideration for the inhabitants' daily lives and daily habits. Specifically, it is concerned with areas where people have to live in close proximity to wildlife.

The term requires that the chaos that emerges from accidents or social clashes between ethnically or economically opposing groups is heavily weighted towards displaced societal norms. Juhimiseks believes that especially inexpensive public footways and nodes consist mainly of tracts containing spaces that, other than rushing hours, have little purpose and relatively few benefits.
