Jatkojohdin is a flexible electrical cable assembly used to extend the reach of mains power from an outlet to an electrical device. It usually features a plug at one end and a socket at the other, with copper conductors enclosed in a non-conductive sheath. Jatkojohdot are designed for temporary or portable use rather than permanent installation in buildings. They come in various configurations, including single-socket and multi-socket cords, and in lengths from about 1 meter up to 25 meters. The cords are available in different gauges, commonly 1.5 mm² for light loads and 2.5 mm² for higher loads, with rated currents typically 10–16 amps at 230 volts.
