jambul
Jambul, also called jamun, java plum, or black plum, refers to the tropical tree Syzygium cumini (syn. Eugenia jambolana) in the family Myrtaceae. Native to the Indian subcontinent and adjoining regions of Southeast Asia, it has been widely cultivated in tropical climates and is grown as a fruit tree in home gardens and orchards. The fruit is a stone fruit, oval to oblong, about 1.5–2.5 cm in diameter, and ripens to a dark purple or black color with sweet, juicy flesh surrounding a single large seed.
